Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 announced with under-screen camera and Snapdragon 888+

After several years of waiting, on Tuesday Xiaomi announced its first smartphone with an under-display camera. Xiaomi Mi MIX 4, the characteristics of which were shared by rumors, became the first Chinese technology proposal with this technology, bypassing competitors Samsung and OPPO.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is the true successor to Mi MIX 3 and becomes one of the brand’s most important devices for 2021. Hence, it comes with the best specs available so far, making the Snapdragon 888+ debut on the market with the high-end Qualcomm processor for 2021.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 4: Hide the camera on the screen as many wanted

The main highlight of this smartphone, in terms of design, is the lack of a dedicated hole for the front camera. Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is the first smartphone from the manufacturer to hit the market with this technology, offering a completely “clean” screen, without having to resort to additional mechanisms like those of Mi MIX 3.

To achieve this effect, Xiaomi had to apply new methods to the 6.67-inch AMOLED display, with the area that overlaps the 20MP front camera being very flexible and redesigning the wires to prevent light blocking from this sensor. The part of the screen covering the camera uses a new diamond-shaped pixel pattern with algorithms designed to reduce the effect of refraction.
