Xiaomi is preparing MIUI 14.1, based on Android 14, for some smartphones

A few days ago, information appeared indicating that Xiaomi had abandoned the development of MIUI 14.5 to focus on the development of MIUI 15, the next generation of its proprietary interface.

In order not to risk falling behind its competitors, the Chinese manufacturer hastened to protect itself, announcing the development of MIUI 14.1, an intermediate update that will exclusively make Android 14 available for its flagship smartphones, including Redmi phones. trade mark.

Historically, Xiaomi has been a bit slower than some competitors in making software updates available, especially those that lead to a new version of Android.

Added to this is the confusion caused by the fact that, on some models, a new version of MIUI is not necessarily compatible with a new version of the Android operating system: this happened, for example, with MIUI 13, available either paired with Android 11 as with Android 12, and with MIUI 14, both are available paired with Android 12 and Android 13.

However, the Chinese giant can correct this penalty mechanism, and soon it will release a new intermediate (and minor) update for its operating system, useful only to bring Android 14 to some of its smartphones.

Some lucky users will receive MIUI 14.1: in this way they will be able to enjoy all the improvements that Android 14 will bring, together with the maturity reached at the moment by MIUI 14.

Here are the Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones that will receive MIUI 14.1

As reported by the specialized portal xiaomiMIUI 14.1 should be released exclusively for the company’s flagship devices:

  • Xiaomi 13
  • Xiaomi 13 Pro
  • Xiaomi 13 Ultra
  • Redmi K60 phone
  • redmi k60 pro phone

However, other suitable devices will have to wait for the launch of MIUI 15 to be able to try Android 14. The update to MIUI 14.1 based on Android 14 should arrive between August and November and the launch will happen, as usual, gradually. On compatible devices (it will first reach a limited number of users and then it will be expanded to the general public).

To see the new features developed by the MIUI development team, we will have to wait for MIUI 15, whose development seems to be progressing rapidly, so much so that the same company left aside the MIUI 14.5 project, which is an average version of its interface that is released every year and that introduces some new features on the version initial.
