Xiaomi 13 is the base model of the latest high-end smartphone series from the tech giant. It was presented at the end of February along with the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Lite, and its partnership with Leica cameras is one of the highlights.

Now that it is officially on the market, DxOMark has already shared the results of the smartphone in its camera tests. This was a modest 30th place in the standings, with 130 points.

We see Xiaomi 13 behind equipment such as the iPhone 12 Pro Max (131 points), the Samsung Galaxy S23 (133 points) or the brother Xiaomi 13 Pro (136 points). And, as you might expect, far from the leader in this ranking is Honor Magic5 Pro (152 points).

Xiaomi 13 cameras capabilities

  • Neutral white balance and beautiful color for images, even in difficult conditions
  • Good exposure in daylight and indoors in photos and videos
  • Good textures and detail in most conditions
  • Good texture noise compensation under most conditions
  • It is almost free of unwanted artifacts in videos

13 Weaknesses in Xiaomi Cameras

  • Limited dynamic range in low-light environments and indoors
  • Some instability of exposure adjustment indoors and in low light
  • Some video autofocus glitches and shallow depth of field
  • Depth estimation is inaccurate in portrait mode
  • Artifacts such as halos and shadows in still images and frame shifting in panoramic video

DxOMark claims that the Xiaomi 13 performs well thanks to its triple camera setup. This provides good photo and video quality in almost all conditions, given its segment.

The device has good, albeit slow autofocus, and group shots don’t always focus on the object closest to the camera. The video is nearly flawless, though there are some shakes in exposure, white balance, and focus.
