With 29 cases of monkeypox, the Republika Srpska government issues an epidemic alert and forms a disease surveillance group |  Rio Grande do Sul

The State Center for Health Surveillance (Cevs) in Rio Grande do Sul, on Wednesday (10) published, Epidemic alert about case monkey pox in the state. at the moment, There are 29 confirmed casesdistributed over 14 municipalities. See the list of cities below.

In addition, another 64 possible infections are under investigation. Of the 29 confirmed cases, 13 are among women and 19 are among men.

The document reinforces the epidemiological surveillance measures that must be adopted by public and private services in the health network, including laboratories and municipal epidemiological surveillance.

Among the actions mentioned is Immediate communication by health professionals of suspected cases to municipal health departments and SESbesides the Collect samples to confirm the diagnosis in the laboratory, trace and monitor contacts of the suspected case, and isolate the patient.

Emergency Operations Center

This Wednesday, the first meeting of the Center for Emergency Operations (COE) for monitoring and follow-up of monkeypox was also held in Republika Srpska. The group created by SES includes representatives of the state administration, universities and health fields.

One of the standoffs presented by SES is the publication of the contingency plan, which is expected to be released in the coming days. The document will be a reference for actions taken by the state and municipalities, with strategic information on containment, control and guidelines for dealing with the emergency.

The group includes representatives from Dermatology, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, the Association of Family and Community Medicine, the State Nursing and Pharmacy Boards, the Public Department, the State Board of Health, the Council of Municipal Health Administrations (Cosems-RS), and others.

In Brazil, so far, there are 2,415 confirmed cases. Community transmission of the disease has been declared (when there is no way to determine the chain of transmission of the virus). The World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox a public health emergency of international concern on July 23.
