Windows 11 loses its popularity on Steam

Windows 10 PC

Every month, Valve discloses data regarding Steam users, that is, their hardware and software configurations. Although these values refer only to the world of Steam users, they give a good indication of the characteristics of their systems as a whole and in the market.

And if we take into account October dataThere is some bad news for Microsoft. This is because Windows 11 scored a drop among all Steam users.

Data shows that Windows 11 recorded a drop of approximately 1.47% in Steam user usage, from 24.84% in September to 23.37% in October. This would still be a significant drop in values, especially considering that it is the gaming market that most users choose to get the systems in the latest versions.

Windows Usage Data on Steam

On the other hand, Windows 10 is still the preferred system for users, with a share of 68.91% – an increase of 0.42% over the previous period. Interestingly, Windows 7 still had a large margin on the platform, at 3.59%, an increase of 1.19% from the previous month.

It is again important to emphasize that this data pertains only to Steam users, and among those, those who have agreed to share their system data with Valve. However, it will definitely be an important drop ratio to take into consideration.

One criticism about Windows 11 lies in the limitations at the hardware level, which limits it only to the latest systems on the market – and even systems that will still be able to run the system properly, may contain unsupported processors. This made many users stick with Windows 10.
