A country that focuses on numbers does not care about people. This idea was defended on Tuesday by Monica Ferro, director of the United Nations Population Fund in London.

The annual Forbes Summit 2023: Empowering the Future takes place on Tuesday, an event that brings together policymakers, business and academics to discuss the role of innovation for a more just and sustainable future. Under the theme “A world in rapid change”, the theme was developed by Monica Ferro, Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in London.

“In 2024, there will be 60 elections: India, the United States, the European Union: 2 billion people voting. In many of these elections, demographic politics, the potential to generate myths and human rights violations are at stake. There are 8 billion people on this planet, and every time We increase this number, the question is whether the planet is enough for everyone. The population is no longer growing but we will reach 10 billion people in 2050 and from then on we will stabilize,” defended the Portuguese woman who holds the position of Director of the United Nations.

The challenge lies in knowing the demographic trends of their population and preparing the country for that.
