Wednesday (6), Meta announced big changes For WhatsApp and Messenger, your messaging apps. The update will allow integration with Web3, blockchain dApps and also with other social networks.

In order to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) For the European Union (EU), Meta has announced a new update to its messaging applications. The change should allow for interoperability with other messaging services.

source: Goal

One of the requirements of the DMA is that messaging services allow third-party messaging services to become interoperable, provided that the third party meets a series of eligibility, including technical and security requirements.

This way, both WhatsApp and Messenger will be able to connect to decentralized Web3 messaging apps like Status and Adamant, for example, or even competitors Telegram and Signal.

In short, users who use Meta applications will be able to enable the functionality through the interoperability protocol that will allow them to receive and exchange messages with users who use third-party messaging applications.
