What does science say about government-suspended teen vaccination?  Listen to a podcast – 09/17/2021 – Podcasts

On Wednesday (15) the Ministry of Health decided to suspend the guidance on vaccinating adolescents between 12 and 17 years old against Covid-19. The file justified the decision citing doubts about the vaccine’s safety in this age group – although Anvisa re-emphasized the green light to use Pfizer’s own immunizing agent in the kit.

The comment surprised state and municipal administrators. While some places accepted the ministry’s decision, such as Brasilia, Natal and Salvador, others opposed it, such as the city and state of São Paulo, which continued to vaccinate teenagers all day Thursday (16).

On Friday’s episode (17), Breakfast talks with Ufes (Federal University of Espírito Santo) Epidemiologist and Professor Ethel Maciel to assess the Ministry of Health’s decision and find out what the science says about the vaccination of children and adolescents.
