German Prime Minister Olaf Schulz and French President Emmanuel Macron have had several phone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In an interview with the German newspaper picture Polish President Andrzej Duda said he was surprised by all the phone conversations with Putin.
These conversations are useless. What did you do? They only legitimize the person responsible for the crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine. He is responsible for that. He decided to send troops there. He adds that the leaders are subordinate to Vladimir Putin.
Macron has previously stated that he believes it is important to avoid humiliating Putin. The statement raised tensions with Ukraine, with President Volodymyr Zelensky questioning Macron’s attempts to talk to Putin to persuade him to end the war.
Duda also criticizes Macron’s statement.
Did anyone talk this way to Adolf Hitler during World War II? Did anyone say that Adolf Hitler should save face? To walk in a way that does not humiliate Adolf Hitler? He says I didn’t hear such sounds.
Macron has had dozens of talks with Putin this year while he has been behind Ukraine and supplying the country with weapons.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also criticized the talks earlier, saying they did not lead to anything. Moraviki also compared Putin to Adolf Hitler.
Macron has previously retracted the criticism, denying that Putin was naive.
