The Portuguese Football Federation released a video showing the “day in the life” of national coach Roberto Martinez at Cidade do Futebol. The Spanish coach, who makes an effort to speak Portuguese, shows what he does in one day, “not very complicated, but with many tasks.”

A day that starts at 8:48 in the morning, with breakfast at Cidade do Futebol, then continues through the technical sections of Cidade do Futebol, «where you can breathe football» and where, in the early days, a coach can easily get lost.

The first hours of work are spent in the office as the coach analyzes available information about potential players who have been called up, such as minutes played or potential physical problems. “We have a lot of information that helps us make decisions.

At the end of the morning, Martínez had Portuguese lessons with a teacher hired for the purpose. “My name is Roberto and I am 49 years old,” says the coach, opening the class, which will help him communicate in the future.

At around 13:00, there will be lunch with the technical team, in the Cidade do Futebol canteen, before an analysis and observation meeting, where the entire technical team watches game videos and takes notes.

At the end of the day, the coach heads to the Estádio de Alvalade, accompanied by João Vieira Pinto, to watch a sports match, passing the Estádio da Luz and getting acquainted with the second ring road.
