Verstappen unhappy with RB20: 'I couldn't do anything' – Formula 1

Max Verstappen finished second in the Dutch Grand Prix and after another winless race, the three-time world champion seemed concerned about McLaren's approach but put the situation into perspective. “The last few races haven't been great. That was, in a way, a bit worrying. We don't need to panic, but we are trying to improve the situation,” said Verstappen, who last won the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver explained to Sky Sports F1 the difficulties he felt throughout the race at the Zandvoort circuit.
“I’m not surprised by how I felt in the car. I couldn’t do anything. Everything I tried to do… I said it during the race, whatever I did to the car it didn’t respond properly. When I turn left, it doesn’t seem to do it right away. Or it doesn’t turn the way I want it to. It’s very difficult to understand why this happens and how we can solve it.”

The Dutch driver also discussed the duel with Lando Norris in the opening laps, who realised early on that he would not be able to overtake the Briton from McLaren.

“The positive point was the start, but at the start of the session, Lando was waiting for his chance. I wasted a bit and couldn’t get the tyres to work. He passed me, and from that moment on, I focused on finishing in the best possible position.”

Formula 1 returns this weekend (30 to 1) for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
