sAlmost two and a half years after his last match with an eagle on his chest, Gabriel Abelt Pires returns to Benfica after ending his loan to Botafogo, of the Brazilian League. The player was on loan until December 31 and the initial idea was to stay on loan for another year, which the Portuguese club agreed to. However, Botafogo president John Textor wants to reshape the team for next season.
In this way Gabriel's adventure in Botafogo ended. It was a Brazilian newspaper Globe Sports Which revealed the latest developments.
The 30-year-old played 34 matches with the team in 2023, 13 of them as a starter, and scored two goals. After recovering from the injury, he became a starter in the final stage of the Brazilian League.
Before Botafogo, Gabriel played for Qatar's Al Gharafa on loan as well. He has not been counted for Benfica since the 2020/21 season, in which he participated in 32 matches. In the 2018/19 season, he cost nearly ten million euros to the Reds' coffers, coming from Leganés in Spain, after being linked to Juventus.
