USA, Stavrom and Ecland | Live Debate: Stavrum, Ekland, and the American Election

For the first time, Nettavisen is organizing a live debate in Karls.

“The Party” with Stavrum and Ekland live

This time we ask whether journalism hunts in packs. Firstly with a live recording of the podcast “Stavrum og Eikeland”.

Steinar Sovatny and Jürgen Gilbrandt, journalists from Dagbladet and authors of the controversial book Partiet. “An inside story on the downfall of the Labor Party,” host the podcast, and will attempt to defend itself on the question of whether it was the authors, or the press, who deceived themselves.

American debate: Should we underestimate Trump?

In the second part of the event, we wonder if we're underestimating Trump – again.

The US elections are just a few days away. Do we really understand how things are connected? Or will we once again allow ourselves to be distracted by Trump's personality?

In 2016, many were surprised by Trump's victory in the presidential election. So far in this year's election campaign, the polls are fairly neck-and-neck between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. There is no doubt about the media interest in the Republican candidate, but the question is whether we understand him, or whether the Norwegian press is just a loud chorus.

Anders Magnus, former foreign correspondent for NRK – and now a columnist at Nettavisen, Henrik Heldahl, journalist and commentator at Nettavisen and Jessica Robinson, a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Media and Communication at UiO will analyze the question of whether we are in the process of belittling Trump – once again.
