From children to adults, many people are curious about topics related to astronomy. But even if the mysteries of the universe excite young people, this interest is not always encouraged or taught in schools, leaving students unmotivated to learn about the subject.
Since she already had knowledge of the problem, the teacher at the Unesp Astronomical Observatory, Helena Ferreira Carrara, created a methodology to interact and bring citizens and professional scientists closer together.
The student’s science foundation project, dubbed Citizen Science, gained prominence at the International Astronomy Conference in Canada. On 94 FM, Teacher Helena tells more about the experiment.

For a graduate student in Physics, the importance of this project is to show the extent to which teaching astronomy contributes to the development of students’ skills, both cognitive, social and emotional.
In addition to awakening interest in science, such actions encourage joint learning between young people and professionals.
