More games for Xbox Game Pass.
Microsoft has once again left the video game industry dumbfounded with its announcement today, January 18, that it will acquire Activision Blizzard.
It is a publisher that needs no introduction and owns the valuable and popular titles such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Tony Hawk Pro’s Skater, Candy Crush, Crash Bandicoot, Guitar Hero, Hearthstone and many more.
From the start, Microsoft says it will offer as many Activision Blizzard games on Xbox Game Pass as possible. Taking advantage of this massive announcement, Redmond has also updated the number of Xbox Game Pass subscribers: to 25 million.
Once the agreement between the two companies is complete, Activision Blizzard will begin speaking out to Phil Spencer as Microsoft Gaming CEO.
She said the acquisition of Activision Blizzard will also accelerate Microsoft’s plans for cloud gaming, allowing more people around the world to access Xbox Game Pass’s growing catalog on tablets, smartphones and laptops.
This is already the second giant publisher that Microsoft is buying. The first was Bethesda.
