Ukraine: – New attacks: – Infection of critical infrastructure

In the morning hours, there were reports of a flight alert going off over large parts of Ukraine. Among others, in the cities of Kyiv, Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that explosions occurred in several places in the metropolitan area.

– Stay in shelters, he writes on Telegram.

Due to the damage to the infrastructure, there is a disruption to the water supply across the capital, Klitschko says, adding that they are working to restore order.

– Hit a block of flats

The governor of the Kyiv region, Oleksiy Kuleba, said that Russia had launched a “major attack” on Ukraine.

The deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office confirms that the energy infrastructure has been attacked in several regions.

According to Reuters, an official in the Ukrainian presidential office reported that Russian missiles hit a residential block in the city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine.

The governor of Kryvyi Rih states that two people were killed and at least five were wounded in the attack.

– Russian missile attack on a residential building. The staircase was destroyed. Two people were killed and at least five were injured – including two children. Everyone is in the hospital, Governor Valentin Reznichenko wrote in a telegram.

Kharkiv without electricity

Also in Kharkiv, local authorities reported that explosions were heard in the morning hours. The governor later confirmed that critical infrastructure was under attack.

According to the electricity company Oblenergo, Kharkiv was left without electricity completely, according to Reuters.

The same should be in the city of Poltava, according to the city governor.

The governor of Odessa also confirmed that the city’s vital infrastructure had been bombed.

In Sumy, Governor Dymytro Zhyvytskyi states that the city is experiencing temporary blackouts as a result of the Russian missile attacks.

According to the Governor of Mykolaiv, more than 60 Russian missiles were seen heading towards Ukraine.

Ukraine’s railway operator reported that several sections were left without power as a result of the attacks, Reuters writes.

Russia has recently carried out several major attacks on critical infrastructure, among other things, that have left areas without electricity.
