UBS Nova Baden begins BCG vaccine application in Betim

The Basic Health Unit (UBS) Nova Baden, in the district of Imbrocho, in Betim, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, will begin the application of the BCG vaccine. Currently, the immunizing agent is offered only in UBS Cachoeira and in Centro-Materno Infantil (CMI) due to the reduction in the number of doses transmitted by the Ministry of Health.

According to the city council, vaccination applications will always be submitted at UBS Nova Baden on Tuesdays and at UBS Cachoeira, on Thursdays. The service will be performed only by appointment, which must be carried out in the reference unit of the child. In the case of children born with CMI, immunization will continue there.

This measure is temporary and will be maintained until the display is normalized. We ask for parents’ understanding so that they do not miss the schedule or fail to vaccinate their children. Healthcare Minister Hilton Soares said health teams in our 38 primary health units are available for welcome and guidance, noting that each bottle of the vaccination device contains 13 doses for a maximum of six hours after opening.

The BCG vaccine protects against tuberculosis, especially severe forms such as tuberculous meningitis and miliary tuberculosis. Ideally, a single dose should be used shortly after delivery. In the routine of services, it is available for children from 0 to 4 years old. Vaccination is also recommended in case of intracellular contact with persons with leprosy.
