The Infection Control Foundation and the German Trias Hospital in Barcelona, Spain, have identified transgender women as a group highly susceptible to monkeypox that requires a special approach.
The research, the product of a collaboration between researchers from African countries, Europe and the United States, led by infectious disease specialist Oriol Mitja, was published in The Lancet and represents a detailed approach to monkeypox, analysis of its transmission routes and treatment possibilities.
