Tony Carrera has struggled since the day he lost his daughter – December 5, 2020 – to figure out what really happened on that fateful evening.
For the first few months, the singer struggled without being able to access information about the investigation because, at an early stage, he was not helpful in the process. Now – after the process is no longer secret from the courts – it is known that on March 16, the application was filed in which Tony’s lawyer requested that his client be appointed an assistant in the Santarem court.

From the moment this request was accepted, the artist together with his ex-wife Fernanda Antunes made several requests.
It required “the capture of the timeline, allowing to visualize all the events that occurred in the operational control center of the concessionaire in charge of the highway (PRISA)”, “the arrest of the vehicles involved in the accident by order of the operation, making sure that they are not changed and that they can be re-analyzed within the scope of the operation.” as well as ‘CMTV Image Grab’, because the condition of the vehicles after the fatal accident is clearly visible.
None of these three requests were accepted by the Public Prosecution Office.
And in July, Tony Carrera, along with his ex-wife, also asked to “expedite procedures and to [Orgão de Polícia Criminal] The official may be urged to provide clarifications to the case file due to delays in the steps to collect evidence that he is responsible for the report in question.” As claimed by the artist The delay in answering and investigating caused “levels of anxiety, nervousness, sadness and bitterness”.. Tony’s lawyer also claims that “the effect of the situation on the myocardial infarction that the victim’s father suffered is not yet known”.
The court again rejected the singer’s request, justifying her failure to meet the legal deadlines.
Via social media, Tony Carrera showed his displeasure at the lack of responses a year after the tragedy that shook his family. “A few months ago I went to Santarem court and tried to talk to Hon. The plaintiff who refused to see me, having only agreed to meet with my attorney. I wanted to ask you to declassify justice because in many respects it has prevented me from accessing the ongoing investigation,” it was reported, continuing: “As a father, I did not know what happened a year ago. If it is true that the media has access to more details than I do as a father, then it is clear that the Portuguese justice system is sick and gives more and more reasons to all who do not believe in it.”
And still…the absence of answers from Ivo Lucas
In the process, it is possible to access Tony Carrera’s testimony, where he also ensures that Evo Lucas has not made any clear about what happened on the day he lost his daughter: “When asked if Evo Lucas had given him any version of the facts, he replied that no, they had only had one or two conversations, and he just said it was very strange. He was asked about Evo Lucas’ professional activity and whether he had worked on the day in question. He replied that he did not know.
The truth is that the ‘Amor Amor’ actor says in his testimony little or nothing if he remembers the sequence of events on the day of the disaster. He says it was “a little raining” and he was talking to his girlfriend” and Sarah says “be careful” the moment the defendant sees what the car in front of her looks like.
Ivo Lucas says that afterwards he only remembers “his standing outside the car on the highway. He also mentions that when he thinks about what happened he has three short memories of the accident, that he first feels the movement of the car itself, then scrapes and you finally find yourself already out of the car”. The singer also ensures that, to this day, he has no explanation for the fact that he was topless when he was found.
Evo Lucas and Sarah Carrera
Tony was the last to talk to his daughter
Evo Lucas mentions that the two stopped at a gas station on the way back to Lisbon and recalls that Sarah Carrera made two phone calls along this route: One for his father and one for his best friend, Barbara Bandera, making Tony Carrera one of the last people to speak to the victim.
Tony Carrera states in his testimony that he does not know why his daughter is taking the trip at a time when there are restrictions on movement between municipalities due to the pandemic. The singer said he did not know “whether the trip was linked to a meeting with a clothing factory and whether and the reason for the trip affected the mood of the driver Ivo Lucas”.
In March, when he heard, Ivo said he is “still recovering,” and receiving “psychological support,” noting that “after the accident, he isolated himself, and has not yet been able to overcome the trauma.”
So far, it is known that only Thiago Pacheco, the driver of the fourth car in question, has asked, through his lawyer, to open an order. The remaining defendants – including Evo Lucas – may do so until January 11. After this date, the judge will have four months to inform whether the case will go to trial.
