This is how you get cheaper flights for summer holidays according to experts – NRK Rogaland – Local News, TV & Radio

– I heard that you have to use different computers when searching for plane tickets. I think there are algorithms involved, says Therese Dahle Dam.

She is on her way to Copenhagen. In order to get exactly these tickets, she checked the offers of many different airlines.

Then I compare what is cheaper. I’ve also heard that some days it’s harder to order. Tuesday, for example, Dahle says.

Natalia Jasinska will also travel, but she doesn’t plan the vacation as much. her trip to Berlin.

I booked this ticket four days ago. I love spontaneous trips, so I often find tickets close to the trip.

She uses different computers and tablets to book plane tickets. She often checks her iPad, but orders on her cellphone.

I have been successful many times and have saved several hundred pounds. I’ve become somewhat of an expert and keep a close eye on what airlines do.

Natalia Jasinska believes she has saved hundreds of crowns by trying to cheat airlines when they ask.

Tickets are getting more and more expensive

The time to buy cheap airline tickets is over, and we have to expect prices to go up more and more as the summer holidays approach, according to flight analyst Hans-Jürgen Elnas.

He notes that prices rose about 16 percent last year, and says we should expect another 10 percent increase this year.

Elnæs also points out that airlines are watching you closely.

Airlines have smart systems that see if you’re using a mobile device, tablet or PC. They also record if you are often and looking.

Elnæs believes that those who are good with data may be able to create smart solutions to get more favorable prices.

But for most people, other, easier methods apply, according to Elnæs:

  • Get a good overview of offers on the days you want to travel.

  • Book your flight as early as possible.

  • Try to fly straight to your destination.

  • Book your flight directly with the airline.

He believes that the biggest trap is that travel behavior has changed after the epidemic.

One gets a little apprehensive about booking in so early. When so many people are doing it gets crowded when everyone has to book at the same time. Then prices go up, flights sell out and you may not be able to travel at the price, place and route you want.

Check out offers as soon as possible

Thomas Iversen of Consumer Council agrees with Elnæs’ advice. He also understands that it is important to plan the vacation in advance.

– DrA You often have several offers to choose from and the prices are a bit lower.

One of his best tips is to check different search engines, such as Finn or Google Flights.

Then find out which companies fly where you want to travel to, and then you can go to the airline’s website to book directly from there.

However, he isn’t sure if the airlines’ algorithms keep track of the searches you make.

I know there are many people who try different ways to cheat algorithms online. There isn’t necessarily a close connection to your IP address and the rates offered to you, so I’m not sure if browsing anonymously has much value in this context.
