AirlineRatings.com has released its annual list of the 20 safest airlines in the world. The list ranks the largest and most popular airlines, as well as the low-cost airlines that excel in safety.
AirlineRatings.com analyzed 385 different airlines to find the safest in the world. In a separate survey, it also rounded out the top 10 low-cost airlines.
This year, Qantas was named the safest airline for 2023. It replaces last year’s winner Air New Zealand. TAP Airlines came in sixth, followed by Emirates Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

12. Hawaiian Airlines
13. SAS
14. United Airlines
15. Lufthansa / Swiss Group
16. Venere
17. British Airways

20. Delta Air Lines
The site also selected ten of the safest low-cost airlines for travelers.. Although not classified in any specific order, Air Arabia, AirAsia Group, Allegiant, Air Baltic, easyJet, flydubai, Frontier, Jetstar Group, JetBlue, Indigo, Ryanair, Scoot, Southwest, Spice Jet, Spirit, Vueling, FitJet, Volaris, WestJet, and Waze. It is the safest low-cost airline to fly this year.
