– We prefer safe and familiar travel destinations rather than places where we get more for our money, says reisetopp. London, Copenhagen, and Stockholm are the most enticing, but in other European cities you get more for your trip.
Weekend trips are somewhat of a let down for travel-loving Norwegians. And we like to choose countries like Denmark, Sweden, Great Britain and Germany.
Despite the recession, nearly half of them say they’re planning a trip abroad within the year, according to Ticket’s latest travel survey.
Many of them will go abroad once or twice. Then one of the trips is usually a weekend trip to a big city.
– After three years without a vacation abroad for many, it will take a lot of people not to book a holiday trip in 2023. However, what we’re seeing is that what’s happening in the world has affected how people book trips and where they want to travel, says Ellen Wolf Andersen. She is the Director of Marketing and Administration at Ticket Feriereiser.

There are affordable alternatives
Copenhagen, Stockholm, and London are often pricey destinations, and the Norwegian krone is weak during the day, compared to the euro, the pound sterling, and the US dollar.
– We prefer safe, familiar travel destinations rather than places where we get more for our money, says Andersen.
But there are cheaper alternatives to the classics, let’s believe the new one Forex bank holiday indicator. The price index evaluates the currency and costs of regular holidays in the country, and measures it against Norway, which has a score of 100 in the index.
Skopje in North Macedonia, Tirana in Albania and Belgrade in Serbia are some of the cheapest major cities this spring, with a cost level of 60-75 percent less than Norway.
– If you want to get away on the cheap in Europe even if the Norwegian krone is weak against the euro, you should go to Montenegro with 49 index, Cyprus with 56 index, Croatia with 68 index, Malta and Portugal with 61 index or Greece with 66 index target, he says Tom Friberg. He is the Director of Communications at Forex.
Otherwise, the iconic South African stands out in this year’s holiday index with a score of 34, in part due to the fact that South Africa’s currency has become 12 percent cheaper against the Norwegian krone in the past year, he adds.

London is still a favorite of the Norwegians
Regardless of the price level and the weakness of the Norwegian krone, London is still the favorite city for Norwegians.
– London has always been at the top of lists in Norway. The city has everything we wanted and many travel again and again. It doesn’t seem to matter if the krone is weak. It really is weak against most currencies. I think London is at the top again because it’s been a few years since we’ve been able to go there – finally, Andreessen believes.

Copenhagen is also at the top of the list of most booked flights this season.
Andersen says Copenhagen is always in the top 10 or out of the list.
– It’s a short trip with many flights. The Danish capital gives us a sense of Europe and of being on a journey without having to travel far. She also says that “it’s nice to be Norwegian in Denmark” and we’ve known that for a long time.
For the first time, Sweden ascends to Ticket’s list of major cities. Stockholm climbed into the top three in our overview of the most booked travel destinations.
Sweden has always been our closest vacation country, but this is the first time the country has climbed to the top of the list. You usually drive to Sweden and we can’t see it in our booking statistics. But we now choose to fly to Stockholm, and then flying is the best solution, says Andreessen.
You’d think Stockholm was chosen over a slightly similar reading to Copenhagen:
– There are many flights, the journey is short and you finally feel able to travel abroad again.
