Recently, many European countries have seen an increase in infections, and many countries have chosen to shut down.
This has led to large demonstrations against the lockdowns and demands for vaccines in Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium, among other countries.
The number of corona deaths in Europe is set to exceed two million by March next year, according to the World Health Organization.
The World Health Organization now says that Corona is the most common cause of death in Europe, according to the newspaper Watchman.
The same is true of Central Asia.
– Today, the infection situation in Europe and Central Asia is very serious. We are facing a challenging winter, but we should not live without hope, says Hans Kluge, Director of Europe at the World Health Organization.
I think the number of deaths will double
The organization estimates that 700,000 people in Europe could die of coronavirus by spring, which means the number of coronation deaths will nearly double this winter.
The number of reported deaths rose to nearly 4,200 per day in Europe last week. That’s double the number recorded in September, according to the World Health Organization. The total number of corona deaths in the region has already exceeded 1.5 million.
The European head of the World Health Organization still believes there is hope.
– We can all, authorities, health authorities and individuals, make an effort against the pandemic, says Kluge.
Three important factors
The World Health Organization summarizes three factors driving the increase in the number of coronary heart disease in Europe: the more contagious delta variant, the easing of procedures, and the fact that a large proportion of the population in many countries has not been vaccinated.
“We can expect there will be high or very high pressure on hospital settings in 25 countries and high or very high pressure on intensive care capacity in 49 out of 53 countries,” Kluge says.
big demonstrations
In many European countries there have recently been large demonstrations against lockdowns and demands for vaccines, showing division in society. In several places in Norway there have also been demonstrations against corona testimonials, on a somewhat smaller scale.
Assistant Director of Health Espen Rostrup Nakstad was not surprised by the reactions.
– It is not surprising that many of the Corona measures now being introduced in Europe are facing resistance, especially in countries that have closed down or imposed vaccination on the entire population, NTB Nakstad said Thursday.
“Unfortunately, we are seeing signs of increasing disunity in some countries, and this could make it more difficult to handle the pandemic well during the winter,” says Nakstad.
