The Ukrainian news media RBC recently published 52-minute interview With the head of the Ukrainian secret service, Kirillo Budanov.

The interview comes at the same time when a major Ukrainian offensive is expected, and Budanov tells RBC that he expects the upcoming battle to be decisive in the war.

– Like it or not, we are approaching a battle that will be a landmark in the modern history of Ukraine. It is a fact and everyone understands it. When it will happen, we do not know yet, but everyone understands that we are getting closer, he says.

Despite the warning of the United States

He won’t reveal Ukraine’s plan, but according to Budanov, the world will soon see what happens.

– I think a lot of space will be forcibly reclaimed during this process. But precisely where, what and when I don’t want to say anything about it, he continues.

Details create speculation

According to Budanov, the Ukrainians succeeded in instilling fear in Russia.

In Moscow, it has been noted, among other things, that air defense is being strengthened and that many bunkers from the Cold War are now being renovated.

One detail in particular from the intelligence chief’s office during the interview led to further speculation.

During the interview, the camera is at some point away from Budanov and toward the reporter. In the background you can see a flat screen with a map image in the background.

Although the image is not clear, you can clearly see that the road network matches the map of Moscow.

Military parade can be attacked

It is not clear in the interview why there was a map of Moscow in Budanov’s office, but at the same time as the interview was conducted, Russian media reported that a Ukrainian drone had been shot down outside the Russian capital.

Some believe this may be the reason for the map, but other Ukrainian media outlets speculate if the head of the KGB is planning to attack Vladimir Putin’s military parade on May 7.

According to leaked Pentagon documents, Budanov attempted a major attack in Russia on the anniversary of the invasion on February 24. But the attack was stopped by the United States.

According to the Ukrainian Truexa News The next obvious target will be the May 7 military parade.

Russia is preparing

Budanov points to several examples that may indicate that Russia is preparing an attack from Ukraine.

Russia has stopped its missile attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, and according to the head of the Ukrainian intelligence service, allegedly because Russia wants to save all new missiles to be able to counter a Ukrainian attack.

– They will use the majority to strike the gathering formations of soldiers, he said.

However, Budanov believes that Russia cannot produce enough conventional missiles to make a difference.

At the same time, rumors of a Ukrainian attack prompted the Russian military to prepare for the upcoming offensive, according to the intelligence chief.
