At this event, Professor Fernando Villgueras will highlight that AI is an important tool for rationalizing government activities, but it also produces new dilemmas for society.
How can data science and AI tools contribute to building evidence-based public policies? What political and ethical dilemmas arise when we decide to integrate data science and artificial intelligence into government activities?
Discussing such issues is the main goal of Professor Fernando Villgueras, from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), during a free event open to residents that will be held next Wednesday, May 15, starting at 2 p.m., at the Institute of Sciences. Mathematics and Computer Science (ICMC) at the University of the South Pacific, in São Carlos.
A researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology – Digital Democracy (INCT-DD), the professor is associated with the Graduate Program in Political Science at UFG and also teaches professional doctoral classes in public policy at the National School of Public Administration (INAP). At this event, he will highlight that artificial intelligence is an important tool for rationalizing government activities, but it also produces new dilemmas for society.
This event will be held free and open to all interested parties, in the Fernão Stella de Rodrigues Germano hall of ICMC, Building 6, in central São Carlos. The initiative is part of Extended activity cycle Organized by the students of the subject Career information in data scienceTaught by Professor Luis Gustavo Nonato. Students are responsible for implementing the action and welcoming and communicating with the audience, who will be able to evaluate the initiative at the end of the event. The proposal aims, based on the evaluations collected, to improve the following activities that will be offered to the population, in order to meet the interests of the São Carlos community that wants to know more about an expanding field, that of data science.
