The Pentagon, affiliated with the US Department of Defense, confirmed in a brief statement that they launched the attack on Friday.

Reuters wrote that at least 125 targets were attacked. At least 18 pro-Iranian fighters were reportedly killed.

– Our response began today. It will continue wherever we want, whenever we want, says a statement by President Joe Biden.

He went on to say that the United States does not want any conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world.

But anyone who wants to harm us should know this: If you harm an American, we will strike back.

An Iraqi army spokesman condemned the attack and described it as a violation of the country's sovereignty.

– It poses a threat that could lead Iraq and the region towards dire consequences, according to the spokesman, according to Reuters.

According to Iraq, the attacks targeted the country's border areas.

Biden's National Security Advisor, John Kirby, claimed in a statement on Friday evening that the Iraqi authorities had been notified in advance of the attacks.

The targets are said to include command centres, missiles, missiles and drone depots.

Reuters reported on Thursday that the United States had approved plans to launch an attack over several days.

President Joe Biden vowed revenge after an Iranian-backed group attacked a US base in Jordan on Sunday night, January 28.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of armed groups backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Three American soldiers were killed and more than 30 others were wounded.

Soldiers William Jerome Rivers (age 46), Kennedy Loudon Sanders (age 24), and Breonna Alexandria Moffett (age 23) were killed in the attack.

Biden previously claimed that Iran was partly responsible for the attack.

– Biden said earlier this week: – I hold Iran responsible, in the sense that they delivered weapons to the people who did this.

Iran claims it was not involved

This is the first time that Americans have been killed in an attack in the region since the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.

This led to fears that the conflict would escalate further.

Iran claims that it has nothing to do with the attack and rejects American accusations that it supports the militias that it says are behind the attack.

Jordan condemned the attack on the US military base and described it as a terrorist attack.

According to Jordan, the attack came from Syria, according to Agence France-Presse.

Syrian state media reported that desert areas in the country were attacked, including along the border with Iraq, and several people were said to have been killed. Al Jazeera writes that.
