The Goiás State Ministry of Health (SES-GO) is present this weekend, Saturday (10/19) and Sunday (10/20), at the Goiás Social Program. This edition is dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer, through the Goiás Todo Rosa campaign and takes place in the Buena Vista IV residential complex. Governor Ronaldo Caedo was present at the event, along with the Secretary of State for Health of Goiás, Racevel Santos, and several heads of other government departments.

State Health performed diagnostic tests, such as ultrasound, electrocardiogram, blood pressure, blood glucose measurement, and testing for hepatitis B and C and syphilis, through the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HDT). There were also ophthalmology consultations and examinations, in partnership with the Ophthalmology Reference Center (SEROV), which carried out examinations, delivered glasses, administered vaccines such as yellow fever and dengue, distributed condoms, and a Hemocentro blood donation bus, among other services.

“Goiás Social has been a very important point for public health. We have provided a large number of services every day to this population that often does not have access to health services.

In addition to the various services, SES brought a trailer for mammograms in an unprecedented way. “This is a very important place for breast cancer prevention and awareness,” the state health chief stressed. He also pointed to the breast cancer genetic panel test, an unprecedented public health test in the country and a successful trial of the law mandating genetic screening for women with a family history of the disease.

Supervisor of Policy and Universal Health Care, Paula Santos Pereira, pointed out that the service provided at Goiás Social is just the gateway. “The important thing is that the service does not end here. The patient will be organized through referral services. We have already had cases where, during the examination, an emergency was detected and the person was sent to the hospital for surgery.

For example, the director noted that mammograms performed at the site will have their reports disclosed through the Government Women's Hospital (HIMO). “Therefore, a patient who has a change in examination will be treated in the unit, until he is fully followed up,” he concludes.
