“The Acólyte” series, from the Star Wars universe, is now available on the Disney+ streaming platform, which in some of its settings contains landscapes of different locations on the island of Madeira.

The production, as previously reported, represents a new direction for the Star Wars franchise, going back in time and showcasing never-before-seen scenarios and worlds in the saga.

The series consists of eight episodes, with the first two episodes available on Wednesdays on that streaming service, while the rest air weekly, on June 12, 19, and 26, and July 3, 10, and 17. If you're a Disney+ subscriber, you can access the first two episodes of the series here.

“The Acólyte,” whose landscapes were captured last year in places like Ribeira da Janela, Seixal and Punta de São Lourenço, stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Daphne Keen, Charlie Barnett, and Judy. Turner Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

According to the introductory note, The Acolyte follows “the investigation into a series of horrific crimes” that “pits a respected Jedi master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg).” They both “go down a dark path where “all is not as it seems.”
