The previous part of “War of Thrones” will be filmed in Portugal

Monsanto, a historic village in the municipality of Idanha-Nova, is one of the stages chosen to record the new series resulting from “A Guerra dos Thrones”, the famous HBO production that has become a global phenomenon with millions of loyal followers all over the world.

“Jornal do Fundão” found that last month there was a technical visit by the “locations” team, producers and one of the directors of the HBO-produced series to assess conditions for Monsanto to be one of the scenarios for “War of the Thrones,” which will begin recording in Caceres, Spain in October. next. Set up at the Fonte Santa, Termas de Monfortinho, the “House of the Dragon” team will be enchanted by Monsanto and its castle as the setting for this medieval fantasy.

Despite the technical and logistical difficulties brought about by the fact that the medieval castle is inaccessible due to the heavy materials, scenography and actors, the truly historic village of Monsanto should be one of the places chosen to record some new episodes of the House of the Dragon series, which depicts the lead up to the events of War of Thrones, i.e. the beginning of the House Targaryen saga, The House of Dragons.

The production team will visit the village again this week with the mayor of Idanha-a-Nova, Armendo Jacinto, and the president of the Monsanto Diocesan Council, Paulo Paiva Monteiro, to begin preparing the heavy-duty logistics required by this overproduction.
