The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and First Lady Olena Zelenska appeared on the cover of the popular fashion magazine Vogue.
The photos were taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, who worked for Vogue for a number of years.
The magazine also gave an interview to Zelenska.
—For the Vogue digital cover issue, Zelenska and her husband, the President of Ukraine, talked about life during war and marriage and shared their history and dreams for Ukraine’s future, Vogue wrote on Twitter.
– Looking forward to victory
In the interview, Zelenska talked about how the past few months were after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.
– These were the worst months of my life, and in the lives of all Ukrainians, she says Vogue magazine.
It is inspired by the courage and effort of the Ukrainians.
– Looking forward to victory. We have no doubts that we will win and that is what keeps us going.
Zelensky praises his wife for the way she has handled the past months.
– I think it has an important role in Ukraine, for our families and for women.
Zelenskyj and Zelenska became lovers during their studies and married in 2003 after eight years as lovers. Together they have two children.
Of course she is my greatest love, but she is my best friend. Olena is really my best friend. She is also a patriot and loves Ukraine very much. She is a wonderful mother.
comedians
Before Zelensky became president, he and Zelenska were in a completely different environment. The chief was a well-known comedian in Ukraine, and Zelenska eventually began working as a copywriter.
The door to the world of comedy for women is as open to women as it is to men, but fewer women are going in that direction. It takes some courage to go this route.
Zelensky was a well-known comedian in Ukraine and acted in several films, but at the end of 2018 he decided to go the path of politics.
Zelenska says she was skeptical when Zelensky decided to run for election.
– I respected his choice and realized that it was an important step for him. At the same time, I felt that my life and the life of my family would completely change.
