The scenario of young people hospitalized and dying victims of the Covid-19 virus worries many authorities about the increased transmission of the virus that leaves the spread and occupation of the family almost collapsing. The situation made the mayor of Campina Grande, Bruno Cunha Lima, an appeal in his social networks, to the necessity of educating this audience. According to him, young people are the most disrespectful of health measures to prevent the epidemic.
He highlighted the data taken from the updated bulletin of the Pedro 1 Municipal Hospital Complex, where 81.4% of the patients in the hospital are under the age of 60. According to the occupation report, divided in percentage by age group, 129 people were hospitalized, from 0 to 20 years old (1.55% – 2 patients); From 21 to 40 years (23.25% – 30 patients); From 41 to 60 years (56.58% – 73 patients) and over 60 years (18.6% – 24 patients).
“It is no secret that the coronavirus has shown mutations affecting young people compared to last year. Either everyone, especially the young ones, realize and start to comply with the rules or they will put their lives and our lives at risk, and help the collapse of the health systems in every municipality,” he said.
The director also warned that “every citizen’s inspector must have his own conscience,” calling for the use of mask, alcohol and the fulfillment of social distance.
According to the Ministry of Health, the city has 29,617 confirmed cases of the disease and more than 765 recorded deaths. The overall family occupancy rate is over 66%.
