The mobile number that appears in the Squid Game is real, the woman received thousands of calls

Squid is one of the latest Netflix series to make a splash around the world and Portugal is no exception. It tells the story of hundreds of penniless people, who find themselves in difficult times both personally and financially, and who are challenged to compete in children’s games. The premium is high, so is the life risks, but they only know what money they can earn.

This week, there was a controversy surrounding the series regarding a mobile phone number.

In the first episodes, a card is presented with three geometric shapes on one side and a phone number on the other. Anyone who wants to participate in the competition must contact the contact.

Some spectators (or rather, thousands of spectators) decided to call the card number. On the other side they found a Korean businesswoman completely by surprise.

The businesswoman admitted, “I’ve used this number for 16 years, and I’m totally amazed. I can’t focus because I have unknown numbers calling me frequently” CNN.

After this incident, Netflix ensured that it would release all scenes in which the number appears.

“We are working with the production company on this issue, including editing scenes with phone numbers when necessary,” CNN quoted the streaming platform as saying.

And the French news agency said, on Thursday, that the eight-digit number that appeared in the first two episodes was replaced by a six-digit version.

Now, when you call the contact, an automatic message appears telling you that the number has not been set.
