# I am farming | With the aim of strengthening partnerships in science to increase Brazilian production in a sustainable way, this week the technical team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) visited the China Agricultural University (CAU) and Syngenta Grupo China in the Chinese capital, Beijing. Minister Carlos Favaro personally visited the main agricultural research centers in Asia. In CAU, which is considered the second best company in the world in the region, the intention has been strengthened to strengthen technical cooperation aimed at food security in both countries. Since 2016, the Foundation has maintained a partnership with the University of São Paulo (USP) and has demonstrated its intention to expand exchange programs. The Chinese University has a faculty of more than 2,000 professionals and about 25,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. With its agronomy and veterinary laboratories, CAU encourages research that can help Brazil develop agriculture and livestock. “We know that China is making great strides in terms of gene editing and Brazil has also initiated this development. Together we can accelerate this very important process,” the minister stressed during a meeting with CAU President Sun Qixin. In the same sense, the Brazilian delegation, which also included the participation of businessmen from the sector, was at Syngenta Grupo China to learn about the latest research in the field of genetic improvement. At the group’s headquarters in China, the Mapa team has learned about the research technologies that are being developed and also the MAP seal, which guarantees the traceability of different foodstuffs, just as it happens with Brazilian cotton, adding value to production.
