The House of Science and Technology in Aracaju starts a basic astronomy course

The House of Science and Technology of the City of Aracaju (CCTECA), run by the Minister of Municipal Education (SEMED), in partnership with the Astronomical Studies Association of Sergipe (SES), started, on Saturday September 13, another course in basic astronomy. About 90 people participated in the first day of the training. The course, which covers theory and practice, will be divided into three units and will be completed in twenty.

During the Saturday, the participants learned about the basic concepts of astronomy and basic measurements. In the practical part, instructions on using the telescope will be given, including calculations, measurements, assemblies, and basic concepts, among others. The first two topics will explore history, nomenclature important to understanding astronomy, and measurement concepts such as angle and light-year.

According to CCTECA coordinator Augusto Almeida, registration quickly sold out. “We have reached the maximum capacity of the CCTECA space, in Parque da Sementeira, with participants of all ages. For those who could not register, by the end of this year, two new classes will open, as well as disciplines aimed at science teachers associated with Semed,” he explained. Augusto.

Undergraduate student Jailton Costa says he’s always wanted to learn about CCTECA and jumped at the opportunity to enroll in a basic astronomy course.

“I discovered the course through social media. I found the space very relaxing and informative, with so many interesting rooms I want to explore the whole place. The course was also very informative and interesting. I take the opportunity to write it all down, as my knowledge of astronomy is very limited And I became interested in the subject because of the pre-Socratic philosophers, who studied the heavens,” says the student.

Any Catarine de Oliveira is an amateur astronomer and has attended CCTECA since she was a child. Because he liked the subject so much, he signed up for the course and said it was very useful.

“I really love astronomy. It is a field that I would like to pursue in my life and I see an increase in community interest in the subject as well, including more participation in observations with telescopes carried out by CCTECA. I love the course because astronomy is something that brings us culture, expands our minds, ”says A.I.
