The food basket has increased, but which foodstuffs have become more expensive?

An analysis by DECO PROTeste shows that the trend reversed last week, from August 31 to 7, with the cost of the stock being €2.14 more in this period than last week.

According to experts, the cost of the basket, which consists of 63 basic goods, was 15.40 euros less a year ago.

But which products are the most expensive?

According to the analysis, cereal was the most expensive food in recent days, recording a 22% increase, or 52 cents.

Shortly after, tomato pulp also saw a huge increase of 18%. The product rose by 21 cents.

Finally, in the “Top 3” of products that saw their prices increase was roasted and ground coffee. According to the analysis, this product increased by 16%.

“Since the beginning of the year, between January 3 and August 7, 2024, the largest price increases were recorded in products such as tuna in olive oil (up 17%), cereal flakes (up 14%), and Gala apples (up 14%),” the Consumer Protection Association reported.
