Ferradoro School, one of the most successful schools in recent years, outperformed the other competitors by scoring 270 points, the highest score in the competition, seven tenths better than Imperatriz Leopoldinense – last year's parade champion – who scored 269.3 points this year.

The Rio Carnival School of Champions led a plot built on the voodoo beliefs of Africans and the power of the women who formed the powerful Sisterhood of Warriors.

Among the new features seen on the platform was a mechanical snake crawling along the sambadrome's 700-metre-long track, being manipulated by a man who was horizontal within the structure.

This is the third title for Ferradoro, who finished runner-up last year, after winning first place in 1997 and 2020.

With this year's victory, the school, founded 77 years ago, becomes the ninth most successful school in the competition, still far behind Portela, which, with 101 years of existence, is the most awarded school in the history of the Rio Carnival, with 22 awards. . Titles.

The 14 schools of the special group, which performed on Sunday and Monday nights, took between 3,000 and 5,000 members to the sambadrome, including dancers, percussionists, singers and characters, who had between 65 and 75 minutes to develop with the help of the codes. and large floats, the chosen theme for each year's parade.

They were each judged as they crossed the 700-metre Sambadrome track, in front of 72,500 spectators, based on criteria such as show chemistry, samba singing and originality of costumes and floats.

Unidos da Tijuca School, which chose “O Conto de Fados” as its theme for the 2024 Carnival parade in Rio de Janeiro, a journey through the mythology of Portugal, from the arrival of the Celts, navigation and cuisine to April ranked 25th, came in 11th place with 265.7 points.
