Jack Hassan did not ask himself a single question when he filmed British David Hockney day by day, from 1971 to 1973. He started the conversation, then turned the camera over and filmed what the artist had given him in his thirties. The peculiarity of this painting is that it irrigates the dazzling play A big splash (1973), a title echoing another iconic canvas of the same name, drawn in 1967. Presented at Critics’ Week in Cannes in 1974, the same year received the Silver Leopard at the Festival de Locarno. It will be released in theaters on October 6, before the next edition of the DVD Collector’s box set by Les Films to Camellia, on October 27 – amid bonuses, we will see an analysis of Bertrand Bonello’s film. Born in 1937, the more active David Hockney will present his latest works produced during his imprisonment.An exhibition at the Mus dee de l’Orangerie in Paris (October 13, 2021 to February 14, 2022).

The beauty of Peter Schlesinger, the toe eye surrounded by a blue stick, loves the whole picture. Sitting on a stool, he gives Hockney on his back and he brushes his chestnut curls. One morning, the young Effie leaves the apartment and goes down the stairs during the shooting of a miracle movie: the camera peeks at the shiny skin of the shoes, then the firm face, and finally the whole body cycled in the same motion. A feather landing on the surface of the water … At the same time, Hockney dropped his eyebrow behind his forehead, aroused by some dark thought.
The repetitive piano notes and strings add to the tension similar to a creative breakdown as the film lives on Hockney’s desire (and lack thereof).
The picture is constructed of attractive paintings glued to each other, sometimes freeing itself from any sartorial attachment. The person at the top of the red tank on the street is wearing a blue shirt, meanwhile, the Hockney painter made a color touch.
