On Monday, the Dalai Lama apologized after a video clip of his meeting with a boy in the Indian city of Dharamsala caused a backlash.
The clip shows the boy asking for a hug from the Dalai Lama, which he gets, but then everything gets a little weird:
The spiritual guide kisses the child on the mouth and then asks him to suck his tongue.
The meeting took place in the Indian city of Dharamsala in February this year.

In a new clip published by Tibetan media Voice of TibetThen, the boy in question is interviewed about the meeting.
– It was great to meet His Holiness, and I think it’s a great experience to meet someone with so much positive energy. I think it was a great experience to meet him, and you get a lot of positive energy, says the boy in the clip and adds:
When you get that positive energy, I think you become happier and smile more.
according to Radio Free Asiawho also interviewed him, the boy’s name is Kian Kanodia.
Both interviews appear to have taken place on the same day as the meeting.
The Voice of Tibet radio website also interviewed what they write is the boy’s mother, Payal Kanodia.
Thanks for the blessing
She is one of the leaders of the M3M Foundation, which set up the iMpower Academy Skills Competence Center in Dharamsala last year – a center that the 87-year-old leader visited.
According to Kanodia, the blessing of the Dalai Lama has been at the top of his wish list since the beginning.
