The convoy of the 19th National Week of Science and Technology arrives in Guarabira on Thursday

The Caravan of the 19th National Week of Science and Technology (SNCT) arrives in the municipality of Guarabira, this Thursday (13), where it will organize workshops and activities on the recycling of e-waste to public and private schools. The activities will be delivered by servers and technicians of the Secretariat of Science and Technology (Secitec) in the municipality of João Pessoa, in partnership with the Secretariat of Education of Guarabira.

Proceedings are taking place at the Social Service of Commerce (Sesc), located on Rua Coronel Maurício da Costa, in the São José neighborhood and are scheduled to begin at 9 am. SNCT Caravan will travel, in total, to 15 municipalities in Paraíba that will participate in the 19th National Science and Technology Week, to be held from November 9-12, at the José Lins do Rego Cultural Space, in Tambauzinho, with free admission for all audiences.

The coordinator of the Center for Electronics Relations of Secitec, Jaqueline Figueiredo dos Santos, commented that the caravan will bring knowledge in science and technology, especially regarding the environmental issue so that young people do not dispose of materials incorrectly and pollute the environment further. “In addition to a workshop on computer assembly and other cross-sectional and collaborative procedures,” he said.

As Secitec IT Analyst and Support Coordinator, Sidcley Fernandes Albuquerque, said, the caravan is a way to encourage young people to pursue scientific and technological careers, identify new talent and promote discussions and updates in the Brazilian teaching and learning process. At the end of the activity, the students who participated in the workshops will receive a certificate.

SNCT – Held annually since 2004. It was established by presidential decree of June 9, 2004. This year, the city of João Pessoa will hold SNCT in two phases: from October 10 to 28, 2022, with the “SNCT Caravan” that will visit 15 cities, and from 9 To November 12, 2022 with “Mostra SNCT”, at Espaço Cultural.

SNCT is implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), with a calendar of events and activities free and open to the population, in cooperation with state and municipal secretariats, development agencies, scientific-cultural spaces, educational and research institutions, scientific societies, schools, government agencies, technology-based companies and private companies with Focus on the use of innovative technologies and other civil society entities.

The motivating idea of ​​SNCT 2022 in Joao Pessoa is to coordinate events for the dissemination and popularization of science that synergistically combines the science and technology ecosystem, the education network and the general population of the city and state, in an enjoyable environment. Sharing experiences and motivations of young scientists, favoring seed fertilization for social transformation through scientific and technological knowledge.

The Minister of Science and Technology of João Pessoa, Guido Lemos, commented that this year’s event will be more crowded with many attractions, given the decisive support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Government of Paraíba State, and scientific research institutions: the National Council for Science and Technology (CNPq), The National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT), the support institution of the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB). “Not to mention the important cooperation between the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB) and the Colleges of Nova Esperanca, Onenasão and Unibe. Without them none of this would be possible,” explained Guido Lemos.
