The comet of the century passed through Alkiva's landscape

As Radio Campanario reported on Sunday, the comet of the century has traced the skies of mainland Portugal.

Comet C/2023 A3 was visible to the naked eye and its passage is considered rare, and estimates indicate that the last time it occurred was more than 80 thousand years ago.

This moment was seen from different parts of the country, specifically in Alentejo.

After yesterday we released an image of the comet taken from the Évora Monte Castle, an image was released this evening that allows us to see the comet's passage through Alqueva.

The photo was taken using Miguel Claroa photographer at the Dark Sky Alqueva Reserve, is one of the most recognized photographers in the field in the world.

In a note, the astrophotographer highlights that “yesterday, October 13, was a special day for the capture of Comet Tsuchenshan-Atlas as Earth passed through the comet's orbital plane, causing the comet to produce an 'antitail'. The front 'spike' can be seen emerging “The image was clearly taken from the head of the comet. The image was taken from the enchanting landscape of the Dark Sky® Alqueva area in Portugal. The moonlight was bright and helped illuminate the surrounding area well and the comet is now clearly visible to the naked eye.”

Remember that Dark Sky Alqueva is the number one starlight destination in the world and has therefore greatly contributed to the increase in the number of tourists in the territory, especially among those who appreciate this type of phenomenon.
