At Rapid Arena, in Bucharest, Sporting beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-1, in the round of 16 of the youth league, in what was the first official match for a Ukrainian team since the start of the Russian invasion of the country on February 24 – 43 days ago.
Thus, a meeting in the quarter-finals, the stage of competition that it reaches for the first time, will be with Benfica on April 13 (3 pm), with the match scheduled at the Aurelio Pereira stadium in Alcochet. The semi-final, as we know, will be against Juventus.
The moments before the match were marked by big icons, as the Dynamo players each entered with a Ukrainian flag on their backs; Athletes presented T-shirts bearing the message “Peace to Ukraine”. There was still a minute of silence.
Sporting came into control, a condition that lasted the entire first half.
Diogo Cabral scored two goals for Sporting (2 and 28 minutes), and Yatsik scored a penalty kick for Dinamo at the beginning of the second half (49 minutes), when the Ukrainians grew up.
The game was initially scheduled for March 2, but was postponed until a new date and, above all, a place to find it.
