On loan from Sporting to Uvi, from Greece, Luiz Filipe is back in the future and has made no secret of his desire to return to Brazil. Working with Abel Ferreira, a Palmeiras coach, is an old-fashioned “dating”.
“Palmeiras is in a very good stage. I saw in the papers that they needed number 9. I don’t know if they found it yet, but you can call me whenever you want. If there is interest from Palmeiras, I will talk to them. I would like to go back to Brazil, but it’s It’s not only up to me, of course. But given the state of Palmeiras today, it would be a very interesting hypothesis. No player will deny it.”
But the future depends on Sporting’s decision: “My contract with OFI expires at the end of the season and I’m still an athlete for another two years. I have to introduce myself again at Sporting in the middle of the year, but I don’t know if I’ll stay or leave again on loan. It will depend on their will. For now, I’m focused on OFI, then we’ll see how it goes.”
The 28-year-old Brazilian striker has indicated that working with Abel Ferreira is an old “dating” since the time he played at Paços de Ferreira and coached Portuguese coach SC Braga.
“After a match between Paços and SC Braga, we crossed the corridors in the elevator. He called me and said, “Do you want to come to Braga?” I got scared. I wasn’t playing much at the time, but I said yes. He replied: “I’ve known you since Ferenc, you are a good player and I like your style of play.” I replied: You can take me! After that we talked a few times and it seemed like things would go away.”
“After that, I started to get chances and started scoring goals in Paços de Ferreira. The Portuguese newspapers said that Sporting and Benfica wanted to sign me, but SC Braga did not send anything. I had to make a choice. I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what If Abel needed authorization from the president he wouldn’t come. So, at the time I picked Sporting and went there,” he recalls.
