Nintendo continues to keep the secret surrounding its console, the successor to the incredibly successful Nintendo Switch, whose immense popularity is putting a lot of pressure on the company's presentation and generational transition plans.
Over the past few months, we've seen several unofficial sources comment that Nintendo's new console (currently unofficially called the Nintendo Switch 2, and officially known as the “successor to the Nintendo Switch”) won't arrive until 2025. After the official confirmation that it will only arrive next year, talk has turned to the quarter it has been chosen for its launch.
Initially, various unofficial sources talked about its launch in the first quarter of 2025, but over the past few days things have started to change. Currently, speculation points to its launch after March 2025, with access only in the summer.
Japanese analyst Hideki Yasuda of Toyo Securites decided to address the conversation surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 launch to comment that the information he has gathered specifically points to this latest revision of plans. The console will arrive between April and June 2025.
Yasuda confirms that the Switch 2 will not arrive in Nintendo's current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2025, but in the first quarter of next year. Furthermore, he comments that the console may cost $499, a price that may surprise many consumers, especially since it would challenge the “cheap console” concept that many desire, but would make sense considering the value of the Japanese currency and the global economy.
The Japanese analyst says the console could come in at a lower price, but he believes $499 is a possibility for now, especially since he expects demand to remain high, but it will have the benefit of helping Japanese stores.
