Ten voters in the US elections: – The division is dangerous

– I hope it's anyone other than Donald Trump, he's the devil in disguise, says Will (78) on his way to the polling station.

His wife, Dawn, 78, agrees with Trump's conviction, but not with the man's use of words.

– Saying something like that doesn't really fit in print, but what we feel is that Trump lacks morals and values. We will vote for Nikki Haley. She is not divisive, she is persistent and represents good values.

-But do you think Haley has a chance then?

– no. Unfortunately, she probably doesn't have a chance. “I'm worried about our country,” Don says.

The couple will vote in Powhatan, Virginia, United States. In this electoral district, a whopping 70% voted for Trump in 2020, but at the polling station where VG spoke to voters, opinions differ.

It's Super Tuesday in the United States, From the primaries Most important vote.

Everything indicates that it is heading to repeat the election campaign in 2020, and that current President Joe Biden (81 years old) will compete with former President Donald Trump (77 years old) in November.

The primaries will likely end in a landslide victory for both elderly men, but they also point to potential problems for both.

Another couple on their way out of the polling station gets a polite nod from the Trump opponents VG spoke to first. But this does not mean that they agree on politics.

-We voted for Donald Trump! He was a great president last time and he will be a great president this time too. The election was stolen from him last time, and I fear it will happen again, says Jack, 70.

Temple's wife, 70, agrees.

– Our country performed well under Trump, but Biden is a thief who wastes our money. She believes that the border policy under Biden is a disaster, and the United States is full of immigrants and drugs.

Chris Wright, 40, is actually a Democratic Party supporter, but chose to vote in the Republican primary instead.

-I voted for Nikki Haley. Mostly as a pure protest against Donald Trump. It causes a lot of division, and division is dangerous.

– What about November, will you vote for Biden then?

– It's complicated. I don't think Biden is the best choice either. I would very much like to see a younger candidate. One with a good memory, so to speak.

-Are you concerned that he is not mentally healthy enough to lead the country?

-I think it is. But I have to think four years ahead.

Eight months before the election, Biden is trailing Trump in national polls, including in the newspaper The New York Times in the weekend.

Weakness resulting from old age is the main reason for voter skepticism.

However, Colleen LaMere (60) voted for Biden.

– I think Biden will win in the end. But I feel stressed and anxious by the division Trump is causing us.

– What do you think about Biden’s age? He may seem like he is very active?

-I believe that with age comes wisdom. That Biden says a few wrong things every now and then is not critical, as long as he governs well. After all, Trump says really disgusting things about race, about other countries, and about the United States' role in the world.

Susie Friedley, 66, has a completely different view.

– Donald Trump's policy will return the United States to our traditional values, which we desperately need now. She says he is the right man for the country.

We are in the middle of a severe decline as a country, and I hope Trump will save us.

Will Braithwaite (80) is also a big fan of Trump.

– Trump has done a lot for the country, even though he is a talkative Yankee (a term referring to Americans from the northern states, Journal. Note).

He believes that “the swamp,” as many Republicans call the political elite in Washington, D.C., “will do everything in its power to stop Trump.”

The trials against him are only political, and I do not think they will be able to stop Trump.

Married couple Bonnie and Jim Savage (both 79) say they like Nikki Haley well, but consider her too frail.

-Trump is going to turn off someone's lights…, says Bonnie.

– Who will be expelled? Joe Biden?

– No, but I want him to fight bureaucracy and lower food prices again, she says.

Trump should close the border. The man adds that this is the most important.
