KTM is not ruling out the possibility of continuing to rely on the Portuguese rider in 2023.
On Friday, MotoGP confirmed that Team Tech3, the KTM satellite team, will switch to GasGas in 2023.
GasGas’ confirmed first name is Pol Espargaró, who will leave Repsol Honda. At a later date it will be announced the second rider who, according to Pete Perrier, who is in charge of the MotoGP project at KTM, could be Miguel Oliveira.
He began by saying: “We can’t confirm the team’s second pilot yet. There is still a chance to keep our friend Miguel in the family. At the moment nothing has been decided.”
We are just repeating our offer [renovar com a KTM regressando à equipa satélite]. We know that this is probably not the easiest hypothesis and at first he may not have fully understood what the future could bring. But now it’s a little easier to talk about the future, if we look at the bike and the project and we can set the team as a factory team and that it can be a leader for the other riders,” he added, acknowledging that at the time he would be giving a new show “Yes, Miguel Oliveira will have a new show today.”
It should be noted that, on Thursday, the KTM boss revealed that Oliveira has already made a deal with RNF Aprilia.
