The 19-year-old midfielder started for Argentina and assisted in the win over Uzbekistan (2-1).
Matteo Tanlongo was satisfied Argentina’s first appearance at the U-20 World Cup And the subsequent victory over Uzbekistan 2-1. At the end of the match, the 19-year-old midfielder took the opportunity to thank Sporting for “liberating” him.
“The club behaved well with me, thank God, and let me come. From the start I said Argentina was the most important thing to me. Luckily, they behaved well and let me come here,” he confirmed, to TycSports.
The Lions player admitted that the first match in the competition was “complicated”, partly due to the “tension” – he saw a yellow card in first-half stoppage time and was replaced by Miramon in the 72nd minute. Firm move, and that’s the important thing,” he analyzed, pointing candidly at the goal: “We’re here to be champions.”
Albiceleste’s team takes the field again against Guatemala, on Tuesday (23:00, in Portugal), and closes Group A against New Zealand, on Friday (22:00).
