Tadej Pogacar reveals he will help Joao Almeida this Sunday, in the hunt for a top-five finish at the Volta de Catalunya.

The 103rd edition of Volta à Catalunya included three mountain stages, and in each of them, the protagonist was himself: Tadej Pogacar. After his victories in Valther on Tuesday and in Port-Innes on Wednesday, the Slovenian rider repeated the feat on Saturday in Keralt.

He managed to leave all his opponents behind him 25 kilometers from the finish line with amazing ease. “When Movistar attacked, I increased the speed and tried to complete the stage alone,” Pogacar said after the finish.

Praise for the structure of Catalonia

In his first appearance at the Vuelta a Catalunya, Tadej Pogacar is performing very well and seems to be thoroughly enjoying his week of competition.

“It's great to cycle along these roads; There were a lot of fans and they were great today (Saturday). Furthermore, there is not a lot of travel, the hotels are of good quality, the roads are good and the weather is suitable. “It's really an excellent race.”

Excited fans at the end of the stage

The goal is also to help Joao Almeida

“It will be a difficult stage for the climbers and probably very crowded. We hope to see a great show. A fourth victory? We'll see. First, I'll enjoy the win we had today (Saturday), then relax at the hotel and then evaluate what we can do tomorrow (Sunday).”

“My main goal is to maintain the lead of the general classification, as well as to maintain the position of Joao Almeida, who is close to the top five,” concludes the Slovenian rider, who has a 3:31 minute advantage over Mikel Landa (Soudal) Quick-Step), her closest rival.
