Sporting will begin the defence of their Handball Super Cup title in the semi-finals against ABC, on August 24, in Póvoa de Varzim, before Porto and Benfica discuss the other place in the final, according to the draw to be held on Tuesday.
The Lions face Braga at 3pm, while the Dragons and Eagles meet immediately afterwards, at 4:30pm, in the four-legged final that will be decided on Sunday, August 25, at 3pm, always at the Povo de Varzim.
Porto lead the standings with eight titles, followed by Benfica and ABC with seven, while Sporting have four and Belenenses one.
The handball league draw was also made today, with Sporting, also the champion, starting with a visit to Aguas Santas, while runners-up FC Porto welcome Guimarães: Benfica start the season at home to Marítimo.
After the first stage, with 12 teams, over two matches, the top four qualify for Group A, in which the title and European competitions are discussed, Group B, in which the fifth team also goes to an international competition, and Group C, from ninth to twelfth place, where the last two teams are relegated.
For this second stage, which is played equally over two matches, competitors succeed with 50% of the points and in the end, in case of a tie, the only decision criterion becomes the ranking obtained in the first stage.
