Both teams are preparing for the finals of the European Championships to be held in the Netherlands in January and February 2022. Team competitors led by coach Błażej Korczyński will be the national teams of Slovakia, Croatia and Russia.

Sixteen teams from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Finland, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine and Serbia will take part in the Dutch final. November play-offs against Belarus.
Debutants include Bosnians, Finns, Georgians and Slovaks. In previous European Championships, played in Slovenia Ljubljana in 2018, the Poles drew 1: 1 with Russia and lost 1: 5 to Kazakhstan, which ended the event. They then played in the final for the second time after a gap of 17 years.
In the opening match in Moscow (2001), then-coach Roman Sovsky’s team lost 1: 2 to Croatia, 2: 8 to Spain and 3: 8 to Ukraine.
The Futsal European Championship has been held 11 times so far. Winners are Spaniards (1996, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2016), Italians (2003, 2014), Russians (1999) and Portuguese (2018).
The goalscorers for Poland in this match were: Mykolaj Jastavnik – two and Patrick Holly, Michael Kubik and Michael Kalouza; To Slovenia: Madage Fitzerk and Igor Osretkar.
