Short sellers boost their bets on the Lisbon Stock Exchange – Bolsa

“Shorting” increased on the Lisbon Stock Exchange, only in the past week there were two listed companies that saw new companies betting against their growth – Galp Energia and Altri.

In all, there are six companies included in the main national index PSI, which are currently targeting short holdings – CTT, Galp, BCP, REN, Nos and Altri, according to CMVM data.

Altri is the latest entry on this list, after Citadel advisors last Wednesday bet a devaluation of the paper industry’s securities, With a short position equal to 0.68% of the capital.

This Tuesday, after the session concluded, it was WorldQuant’s “hedge fund” turn to bet the paper’s write-down., with a short position equal to 0.52% of the capital. In the session that followed this announcement, the company led by José Soares de Pina fell 5.55%.

Thus, the total bet for Altri’s fall is 1.2%.

Last Thursday, Galp was also the target of increasing “short selling” with the entry of Millenium Capital, which invested 0.52% of its capital in devaluing the oil company’s securities. Thus, Millennium Capital joins Marshall Weiss and Exan, who together put the total loss stakes in this title at 2.19%.
In mid-August, BCP joined this list with Citadel Advisors betting on the bank’s securities devaluation, With a short position equal to 0.50% of the capital.

In addition to the bank led by Miguel Maya, the hedge fund also bet on CTT in early August, with a short position of 0.51%, thus joining BlackRock and JPMorgan – along withPlace all bets on the downfall of the company led by João Bento in 2.51%.
